STEERING SYSTEM INSPECTION Replace the sleering column as an 8ssembv
Turn the column shaft, it should turn smoothly and quietly without bindingIf the shaft does not turn smoothly or quietly, the bearings may be damaged or fau lty Check the dust seals for fatigue, wear or damageCheck the shaft splines for wear or damageIf the they are damaged, check the st eering wheel and steering shaft spli nes also
Check that the universal joint moves smoothly with out binding or noiseCheck the stee ring shaft for deformation or other damageCheck the shaft splines for wear or damage If the they are damaged, check the co lumn and pinion spl ines
