SERVICE INFORMATION
GENERAL
Always turn the ignition switch OFF before servicing the starter motorThe motor could suddenly start, causing serious injuryThe starter motor can be serviced with the engine in the frameWhen checking the starter system, always follow the steps in the troubleshooting (page 22-4)A weak battery may be unable to turn the starter motor quickly enough, or supply adequate ignition currentIf the current is kept flowing through the starter motor to turn it while the engine is not cranking over, the starter motor may be damagedFor starter clutch servicing (page 11-9)For ignition switch information (page 23-6)For engine stop switch and starter switch inspection (page 23-7)For front brake switch inspection (page 23-20)For gear position switch information (page 14-44)
