PINION NEEDLE BEARING
Remove the stopper ring by rotating it until the end of the stopper ring appears in the access holeStrike gently near the end of the ring with punch to bend the end upwardGrasp the end of the ring with needle-nosed pliers and pull the stopper ring out through the access holeBe sure to wear heavy gloves to avoid burns when handling the heated gear caseUsing torch to heat the gear case may cause warpage
Heat the gear case to 80C (176F) and remove the needle bearing by using the special toolTOOLS: Bearing remover, 17 mm Remover handle Remover weight 07936-3710300 07936-3710100 07741-0010201 or 07936-371020A or 07936-3710200 (U.S.Aonly)
Remove the bearing cage and bearings from the inside of the pinion bearing to allow the special tool to grip the bearingInstall the stopper ring into the groove in the bearingInstall the bearing into the special tool until the bearing is flush with the end of the toolTOOL: Bearing clip compressor, 28 mm 070ME-HN8A200
