FRONT DRIVING MECHANISM
FRONT DRIVE SHAFT
REMOVAL
It is not necessary to remove the splash guardTo prevent damage to the differential oil seal, hold the inboard joint horizontal until the drive shaft is clear of the differential
Remove the knuckle (page 15-15) Hold the inboard joint of the drive shaft and tug firmly to force the stopper ring on the inboard joint end past the groove while prying with screwdriver
Remove the stopper ring from the inboard joint
INBOARD JOINT

DISASSEMBLYINSPECTION
Check the boots for cuts or other damageCheck the drive shaft joints for excessive play or noise by moving the joints in circular directionIf the outboard joint seems to be worn or damaged, the drive shaft must be replacedNOTE To replace the outboard boot, first remove the inboard boot as described in the following stepsThen remove the bands and outboard boot from the inboard end of the shaft The outboard joint cannot be disassembledOUTBOARD JOINT
