MAINTENANCE
BRAKE SYSTEM
FRONT BRAKE
Firmly apply the front brake lever and check that no air has entered the system If the brake lever feels soft or spongy when operated, bleed the system Refer to page 15-6 for air bleeding procedures Inspect the brake hoses, pipe and fittings for deterioration, cracks, damage or signs of leakageTighten any loose fittingsReplace hoses, pipes and fittings as required
REAR BRAKEPARKING BRAKE
Check the brake cable, parking brake lever and rear brake pedal for loose connections, excessive play or other damageReplace or repair if necessaryDisconnect the brake cables at the parking brake lever and rear brake pedal endsThoroughly lubricate the cables and their pivot points with commercially available cable lubricantConnect the brake cablesSlide the dust cover off the lever bracketTo adjust the clutch lever freeplay to more than 30 mm (1-1 4 in), loosen the lock nut and turn the adjuster all the way in at the clutch leverSqueeze the clutch lever while pushing the brake lock pin down until firm resistance is felt and measure the parking brake lever free play at the end of the clutch leverCLUTCH LEVER LOCK PIN
