ALTERNATOR STARTER CLUTCH
RECOIL STARTER
REMOVAL
Remove the right side cover (page 35 )
Remove the following:
fou bol ts and clamp recoil startP.f assembly
STARTER ROPE REPLACEMENT

Pull the starter rope tully to align the rope holes in the drive pu lley and hou sing, and secu re the pulley with vise pliers equivalent tool to prevent the
pulley from rewi ndingUntie the starter ro pe and remove the ropeInser new starter ro pe throug he pulley, housing and grip, and ie the rope endsin square knotSet the ull ey side rope end into the cav ity as shownCarefully release he pulley and check the recoil starter for smooth operation by pulling the rip
