LIGHTS METERS SWITCHES
GEAR POSITION SWITCH
INSPECTION
Remove the rear fender (page 3-5,
Disconnect the gear position switch wire connec-
torsCheck for continuity between the switch side connector terminal and ground
There should be continuity at the Light green wire terminal when the transmission is neutralThere should be continuity at the Grav wire terminal when the transmission is in reverse
REPLACEMENT
Remove the rear crankcase cover (page 11-4)Remove the wire grommet from the rear crankcase
coverRemove the bolt and the gear position switch from
the rear crankcase coverApply locking agent to the gear position switch bolt threadsInstall new gear position switch onto the rear crankcase cover and tighten the boltApplv sealant to the grommet seating surface and instaJJ the grommet into the rea crankcase cover groove securelyInstall the alternator cover (page")
