BRAKE SYSTEM
SERVICE INFORMATION
GENERAL

ACAUTION
Frequent inhalation of brake lining dust, regardless of material composi ion CQuid be hazardous to your health Avoid breathing dust particles Never use an air hose or brush to clean brake assembliesUse an OSHA-approved vacuum cleaner contaminated brake drum or shoe redu ces slopping powerDiscard contaminated shoes and clean contaminated drum with high quality brake degreasing agent Avoid spilling brake fluid on painted, plastic or rubber partsPlace rag or shop towel over these parts whenever the system is serviced This section covers maintenance of the front hydraulic brake and rear drum brake systems jack or other support is required to support the vehicle Once the hydraulic system has been opened, or if the brake feels spongy, the system must be bled Do not allow foreign material enter the system when filling the reservoir Always use fresh DOT or brake fluid from sealed container when servicing the systemDo not mix different types of fluid as they may not be compatible Always check the brake operation before rid ing the vehicleApply multipurpose grease (NlGI No.3) to the front brake waterproof seal lip
