HONDAMATIC REPLACEMENT Shift the sub-transmission into neutralRemove the two bolts and gear position switch from the crankcase coverRemove the O-ringCoat new O-ring with engine oil and install it onto new gear position switchAlign the long end of the switch pin with the "N" markInstall the gear position switch by aligning the switch pin with the slot in the crankcase cover being careful not to damage the switch pinInstall the bolts and tighten themBOLTS Long "N" GEAR POSITION SWITCH O-RING
ESP SHIFT SWITCH
The automatic transmission can shift and the meter indicates the shift position (1 through 5) with the following conditions: Mode select switch at ESP (Electric Shift Program) Gearshift lever (Sub-transmission) in range Engine is running
INSPECTION
Turn the ignition switch OFFDisconnect the ECM 21P (Black) connectorCheck for continuity between the ECM connector terminals in each switch positionContinuity should exist between the color coded wires as follows: ECM 21P (BLACK) CONNECTOR
