BATTERYCHARGING SYSTEM BATTERY CHARGING (U.S.Aonly) Remove the battery (page 19-5)
Make sure the area around the charger is well ventilated, clear of flammable materials, and free from heat, humidity, water and dust Clean the battery terminals and position the battery as far away from the charger as the leads will permit Do not place batteries below the charger gases from the battery may corrode and damage the charger Do not place batteries on top of the chargerBe sure the air vents are not blocked1Turn the "POWER" switch to OFFTOOL: Christie battery charger MC10122 (U.S.Aonly)
Turn power ON OFF at the charger, not at the battery terminal
2Set the "BATTERY AMPHRSELECTOR SWITCH" for the size of the battery being chargedBATTERY AMPHRSELECTOR SWITCH
5.5 to 9.0 3.5 to 5.0 to 3.0 9.5 to 16.0 16.5 to 30
Set the appropriate amphour rating
3Set the "TIMER" to the position indicated by the Honda Battery Tester; RED 3, RED or YELLOW 1If you are charging new battery, set the switch to the NEW BATT position4Attach the clamps to the battery terminals: red to positive, black to negativeConnecting the cables with the POWER switch turned to ON can produce spark which could ignite or explode the batteryNEW BATT
