SERVICE INFORMATION
GENERAL
When checking the Electric Shift Program (ESP) system, always follow the steps in the troubleshooting flowchart (page 22-6)The ESP parts can be serviced with the engine installed in the frameThis vehicle's ESP control unit is built into the engine control module (ECM)The ECM may be damaged if droppedAlso, if the connector is disconnected when current is flowing, the excessive voltage may damage the ECMAlways turn off the ignition switch before disconnecting or connecting the connectorsUse digital tester for ESP system inspectionSee page 21-10 for gear position switch inspectionSee page 23-7 for rear vehicle speed sensor inspection
