BEFORE TROUBLESHOOTING
When the Electric Contro Unit (ECU) detects system abnormality, it has buil t-in self-diagnostic function that stops the Electric Shift (ES) system or rese ts the system entirely (jus as when the ignition switch is turned from uOFF" to ON")If the ECU detecls an ES system failureIne ECU stops the ES system function and records problem code The ES system ill not operate, even after the ignition switch is turned toOFF"To reset the ES system, turn the ignition switch from "ON" toOFFand back to "ON" againHowever, if the ECU still de tects problem, it will conti nue to deactiv ate the ES system unction When this occurs, the gea position in dicator Will blink cert ain num ber of ri es to indi ca te the app ropri at problem co deThe ECU is able to record system fai lures and ou tpu ts these as rob le codes that are shown on the ndicator Iie the "N" blinks designated number of times)
