ACAUTION
Used engine oil may cause skin cancer if repeatedly left in contact with th skin for prolonged periodsAlthough this is unl ikely unless you handle used oil on daily basisit is still advisable to thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water as soon as poss ible after handling used oil This section covers serv ice of the oil pump, oil coo ler and cooling fan For oil level check, oil change and oil filter replacement, See page 4-12The service procedures in this section ca be performed with the engine installed in the frame This engine uses dry sump system, however, in add ition to the oil tank, the lubrication syst em uses part of th crank case as an oil tankSee page 2-2 for system descriptions When removing and installing the oil pump, use care not to allow dust or dirt to enter the engine If any ponion of the oil pump is worn beyond th specified service limits, replace the oil pump as an assembly After the oil pump and oil cooler have been insta lled, check that there are no il leaks The oil thermosensor signals th ign ition contro module (leM) to start the cooling fan motor according to the engine oil temperatureFor oil cooling system inspection, See page 21 -16
