MAINTENANCE Remove th inspect ion hol cap and align the cap hole with one of the brake shoe adjusters and turn the adjuster up with screwdriver until the shoes lock, then back off three stepsSpin the wheel manually to make sure he brake does not drag Line up the inspection hole with the second adjuster and re peat the procedureAd ust both wheelsNOTE: There are two adjusters on each front whee lAdjust all four adjusters (both wheels)
ADJUSTER
Recheck the brake lever free playIf the free play is stil excess ive after adjusting the brake shoe lining clearance, there is probab ly air in the brake syst em and it must be bled (page 15-5)After checking, install the inspection hole cap securely in the drum whi le pushing the cap with screwdriver
REAR BRAKE
Check the brake cable, brake lever and brake peda for loose connections, excessive play or other damageReplace or repair if necessaryFor ca ble lubrication: Disconnect the brake cab le at the brake lever of peda lThoroughly lubricate the cables and their pivot points with commercially ava ilable cable lu bricant or lightweight oil Measure the rear (parking) brake lever fr ee lay at the end of the leve rFREE PLAY: 1520 mm (9161316 in)
