VALVE CLEARANCE
Inspect and adjust the valve clearance while the engine is cold (be low 35 C95" F) Remove th fo ll owing: cy li nder head cover (page 8-6) recoil starter cove (page 3-5) timing hole cap CAP
Rotate the crankshaft using the recoil starter knob to align the "r mark on the flywheel with the index mark on the rear crankcase coverMake sure the piston is at TOC ITop Dead Center) on the compression strokeThis position can be obt ained by confirming that there is slack in the rocker armIf there is no slackrotate the crankshaft one ull turn and match up the "r mark again
