A.PSURETRAC TORQUE BIASING FRONT DIFFERENTIAL
CONSTRUCTION
In th is mechanism, torque is transm itted hrough he differentia using cam and follower principleThe differen ti al is groove-fitted in the differential case (which receives torque from ring gear) so that the cam fo ll owers can move to the left and rightTorque is transm itted by contact of the cam aces at the left and right ends of the cam follower with the cam faces of th both face cams (equiva lent to the side gears in conve nti ona co nfiguration) When the differenti al operates, the cam followers move to the left and right back and fort h, transmitting torque to the face camsThe performance of th is type of ifferent ia differs rom conventional types because the orque difference is established before any relative motion takes placeThe tire dynamics dict ate th torque ge nerated so that the different ial always provides the optim um torque ba lanceThis maintains tire adhesion and enhances directional stability and safetyThis construction differs from conventiona differentia in the fo ll owing ways: Fewer number of structura parts Reduced steering load Greater durabi lity
