IGNITION SYSTEM Shift the transmission into neutralTurn the ignition switch to and the engine stop switch to the "run" positionCrank the engine with the starter motor and read the ignition pulse generator peak voltage
PEAK VOLTAGE.7 minimum
If the voltage measured at the )eM connector is abnormalmeasure the peak voltage at the ignition pulse generator connectorRemove the left side cover (page 2-3)Disconnect the ignition pulse generator 2P (white)
connector and connect the peak voltage tester or
adapter probes 10 the Blueyellow terminal of the pulse generator ide connector and groundIn the same manner as at the leM connector, measure the peak voltage and compare it to the voltage f11ea$u red at the leM connectorIf the peak voltage measured at the ICM connector is abno rmal and the one measu red at the pulse generator connector is normal, the Blueyellow wire has an open short circuit, or loose tionsIf both peak voltages are abnormalfollow the checks described in the troubleshooting chart on page 18-2
