GENERAL
Some electrical components may be damaged if terminals or connectors are connected or disconnected while the ignition switch is and current is presentWhen servicing the ignition system, always follow the steps in the troubleshooting on page 18-2The ignition timing cannot be adjusted since the ignition control module (teM) is factory presetThe leM may be damaged if droppedAlso, if the connector is disconnected when current is flowingthe excessive voltage may damage the leMAlways turn off the ignition switch before servicingA faulty ignition system is ohen related to poor connectionsCheck those connections before proceedingMake sure the banery is adequatel cha rgedUsing the starter motor with weak banery results in slower engine cranking speed as well as no spark at the spark plugUse spark plug of the correct heat rangeUsing spark plug with an incorrect heat range can damage the engineSee section '1 for ignition pulse generator rem ovalinstallationSee section 20 for following components:ignition switchengine stop switchneutral switch
