SPRING UNIVERSAL JOINT If the splines are damaged, check the pinion and universal joint splines alsoFor universal joint removal, see page 14-14

FINAL DRIVE Turn the pinion gear and check that the gear turns smoothly and quietly without binding
If the gears do not turn smoothly or quietly, the gears andor bearing may be damaged or faultyThey must be checked after disassembly; replace them if necessary
