ELECTRIC SHIFT PROGRAM (ESP)
SERVICE INFORMATION
GENERAL
o Fo electric shift program (ESP) system location, see page 21-0 and 21 -1o When servic ing the electric sh ift program (ESP), always follow the steps in the troubleshooting flow chart (page 21-3, 14)o Control motor service can be done with the engine installed in the frameThe speed sensor digital pulse signal is sent to the control unit, For speed sensor inspection, see section 20o Use digital ester for electric !;ih ift program (ESP) system inspection Ch eck for loose connectorsespecially at the shift motor and ESCo Ensure that all connectors are cleandry and free of corrosion (repack with dielectric grease) Before troubleshooting the ESP, make sure the vehicle will shift using the gear change toolIf not, check gear sh ift linkage section 9o If the un it has been submerged in water above the control motor, verify proper control motor operationEnsure that the angle sensor is operating properly (page 21 -25)
