SERVICE INFORMATION
GENERAL

If the engine must be running to do some work, make sure the area is well-ventilatedNever run the engine in an enclosed areaThe exhaust contains poisonous carbon monoxide gas that may cause loss of consciousness and may lead to deathRun the engine in an open area or with an exhaust evacuation system in an enclosed areaCAUTION: Some electrical components may be damaged if terminals or connectors are connected or disconnected while the ignition switch is on and current is present When servicing the ignition systemalways follow the steps in the troubleshooting sequence on page 1B3 The ignition timing does not normally need to be adjusted since the Ignition Control Module (ICM) is factory presetThe ICM may be damaged if droppedAlsoif the connector is disconnected when current is flowingthe excess ive voltage may damage the moduleAlways turn off the engine stop switch before servicing faulty ignition system is often related to poor connectionsCheck those connection before proceeding Use spark plug of the correct heat rangeUsing spark plug with an incorrect heat range can damage the engine
