REAR DRIVING MECHANISM BEARING INSPECTION Turn the inner rac of each ring gear bearing with your fingerThe bearings should turn smoothly and quietlyAlso check that the outer race fits tightly in the case and coverRemove and discard th bearings if the races do not turn smoothly and quietly, or if they fit loosely in the case or coverFor ring gear bearing replacement, go to page 1511 For drive pinion removal and disassembly, go to page 15-9
GEAR TOOTH CONTACT PATTERN CHECK
Clean all sealing material off the mating surfaces of the gear case and coverNOTE: Keep dust and di rt out of the gea case Be carefu not to damage the mating surface
APPLY PRUSSIAN BLUE
SPACERS
Apply th coat of Prussia Blue to the pinIOn gear teeth for gear tooth contact pattern checkInstall the ring gear with the spacers in to th gear caseTighten the co ver bolts in or steps until the cover evenly touches the ear case Then, while rotating the drive pinion, tighten the bolts to the specified torque in 2-3 steps ina crisscross pattern TORQUE10 mm bolt: 49 Nm (50 kgfm, 36Ibfft) mm bolt: 25 Nm (2 .6 kgfm19 Ibfft) CAUTION :
