MAINTENANCE BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTMENT Place the front of the FL400R on secure support with the front wheels off the groundPump the front brake lever 2-3 times firmly and release itRemove the adjusting hole capTurn the brake shoe adjuster up with screwdriver until the shoes lock, then back off three stopsPump the front brake lever 2-3 times firmly and release it, then turn the front wheel by handsReadjust the brake shoe if the front wheel does not rotate freelyRecheck the brake lever free playIf free play is still excessive after adjusting the brake lining clearance, there is probably air in the brake system and it must be bled out (section 141After adjusting, install the adjusting hole cap securely in the drum while pushing the cap with screwdriver

INSPECTION
Place the rear of the FL400R on secure support with the rear wheels off the groundRemove the parking brake lever coverPull the parking brake lever up 2-5 notches, and try to turn the rear wheels; if they can be moved, follow the adjustment procedures below
