FRONT DRIVING MECHANISM (TRX300FW) BACKLASH INSPECTION
Remove the oil filler cap, and drive pinion oil sealInstall the pinion holder onto the pinion jointTOOL: PINION HOLDER:
07924-HA00001 or 07924- HAOOOOO
Set the holder in the viseSet horizontal type dial indicator on the ring gear, through the oil filler holeInstall the differential inspection attachment into the right side of differential gear and rotate the differential assemblyring gear by turning the differential inspection attachment by hand until gear slack is taken upTurn the ring gear back and forth to read backlashSTANDARD: 0.08-0.18 mm (0.003-0.007 in) SERVICE LIMIT: 0.25 mm (0.010 in) TOOL: Differential inspection tool 07KMK-HC50101 Remove the dial indicatorTurn the ring gear and measure the backlashRepeat this procedure once moreCompare the difference of the three measurementsDIFFERENCE OF MEASUREMENT SERVICE LIMIT: 0.10 mm (0.004 in) If the difference in measurements exceeds the limit, it indicates that either the bearing is not installed squarely, or the case is deformedInspect each bering and casea If backlash is too small, replace the ring gear left side spacer with thicker oneBacklash is changed by about 0.06 mm (0.002 in) when thickness of the spacer is changed by 0.10 mm (0.004 in)RING GEAR SPACERS: Twenty-three spacers (from to W) are available in thickness intervals of 0.05 mm Standard: 1.00 mm (0.039 in) Thinnest: 0.50 mm (0.020 in) Thickest: 1.60 mm (0.063 in) Change the right side spacer thickness and opposite amount to what the left side spacer was changed; if the left spacer was replaced with 0.10 mm (0.004 in) thicker spacer, replace the right spacer with one that is 0.10 mm (0.004 in) thinner
