LUBRICATION
ENGINE OIL LEVEL
Place the vehicle on level groundCheck the oil level using the oil filler capdipstick by placing it into the filler hole without screwing it inIf the oil level is below or near the lower level line on the dipstick, add the recommended oil (page 2-1) up to the upper level line
ENGINE OILFILTER CHANGE
If the engine must be running to do some work, make sure the area is well ventilatedNever run the engine in an enclosed areaThe exhaust contains poisonous carbon monoxide gas that may cause loss of consciousness and lead to deathNOTE Change the engine oil with the engine warm and the vehicle on level ground to assure complete draining
Remove the three bolts attaching the oil filter cover, oil filter and springDiscard the 'oil filterCAUTION
Used engine oil may cause skin cancer if repeatedly left in contact with the skin for prolonged periodsAlthough this is unlikely unless you handle used oil on daily basis, it is still advisable to thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water as soon as possible after handling used oilRemove the oil filler cap and drain boltDrain the oil completelyCheck that the sealing washer on the drain bolt is in good condition and install the drain boltTORQUE: 25 Nm (2.5 kg-m, 18 ft-Ib) Install the oil filter spring to the right crankcase coverMake sure that the a-rings are in good condition(1) SPRING Install new oil filter with its OUT-SIDE mark facing outCAUTION (5) OUT-SIDE
