Turn the inner race of the bearing with your fingerThe bearing should turn smoothly and quietlyAlso check that the bearing outer race fits tightly in the right crankcase coverRemove and discard the bearing if the race does not turn smoothlyquietly, or if it fits loosely in the right crankcase cover
Check the water pump shaft for any damage
