BATTERYCHARGING SYSTEM CHARGING OUTPUT TEST NOTE The battery voltage must be above 13.1 when perform ing this test
Warm up the engineRemove the main fuse and connect an ammeter between the main fuse terminalsConnect voltmeter between the battery terminals

currentsStart the engine, turn the headlight on and read the ammeter and volt meter Gradually increase the engine speed and check that the amperage and voltage are regulated within the specified range

If they are not regulatedreplace the regu lator rectif ier If the battery is discharging though the engine speed risesstop the engine and check the following:Check the regulator rect ifier coupler for looseness or disconnectionCheck the continuity between the battery positive cable and the red wire terminal of the regulatorrectifier couplerCheck the alternator charging coil (page 16-4 )If there is no problemheck the wiring If OK, rep lace the regu lato rrectifier and re -test
