VALVE CLEARANCE
Adjust valve clearance while the engine is cold (below 35 C 95 FlRemove the timing hole cap from th leh crankcase cover Turn the crankshaft slowly using th re coil starter and al ign the" mark on the flywheel ith th index mark on til left crankcase cover
Remove the valve adjuster cover Remove the iming hole cap from tl1e ylinder head cover and check that the indicator on th casmshaft is visible (facing up)If the indicator IS not visible turn the crankshah 360 uSing the recoil starter and re-a lign he "Tmark on the flywheel ith the Index mark on the leh crankcase cover

When th" mark is aligned with th Index mark and the indica tor is visible (facing up)th piston is at Ihe top dead center on the compression stroke
Loose the valve adj us ter lock bolts fully ove each valve adjus er to the left (couterclockwlsel until resistance IS teltThen move each adjuster back the righthe equivalen distance marked graduationTigh ten bo valve adjuster loc bOlts
