Use soft jaws to prevent damage

Set horizontal type dial indicator on the output drive shaft as shownHold the output driven gear shaft and rotate the drive shaft until the gear slack is taken upTurn the countershaft back and forth to read the backlash
TOOL: Shaft holder

STANDARD: 0.080-0 180 mm to.00310.0071 in) SERVICE LIMIT: .25 mm (0 .010 in)
Remove the dial indicatorTurn the output drive shaft 20 and measure the backlash Repeat this procedure once more
Compare the difference of the three mea surements
