MAINTENANCE
SPARK PLUG
Disconnect the spark plug cap and remove the spark plug Visually inspect the spark plug electrodes for wearThe center electrode should have square edges and the side electrode should have constant thicknessDiscard the spark plug if there is apparent wear or if the insulator is cracked or chippedMeasure the gap with wire-type feeler gauge and adjust if necessary by carefully bending the side electrode
(1) CENTER ELECTRODE
0.6.7 mm (0.024-0.028 in)
- (2) CHECK: GAP
DEPOSIT WEAR
(3) SIDE ELECTRODE
CHECKSEALING DAMAGE (4) CHECKCRACKS
SPARK PLUG GAP: 0.6-0.7 mm 10.024-0.028 in} RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT PLUG: NGK: DRSES-L (DR8ES, OR7ES) NOX24ESR-U (X27ESR-U, X22ESA-UI
Check the sealing washer and replace with new one if damaged With the sealing washer attachedthread the spark plug in by hand to prevent crossthreading Tighten the spark plug to the specified torqueTORQUE: 15- 20 Nm (1.52.0 kg-m, 11 -14 ft-Ib)
