IGNITION SYSTEM
IGNITION TIMING
Remove the air cleaner case (page 4-4) and timing hole capConnect timing light and tachometerStart the engine and allow it to idle
IDLE (1,300 rpm): mark should be aligned with index markIf ignition timing is not correct, inspect the COl unit and pulse generatorReplace any faulty componentInstall the timing hole cap with the O-ring
COl UNIT
REMOVAL
Disconnect the wire coupler and remove the COl unit
INSPECTION
Replace the COl unit if the readings are not within the limits shown in the tableNOTE The COl unit is fully transistorizedFor accurate testing, it is necessary to use specified electric testerUse of an improper tester may give false readingUse Sanwa Electric Tester (07308-0020000) or Kowa Tester (TH-5H-l) or Kowa Digital Multi-Tester (074110020000 or KS-AHM-32-003: U.S.Aonly)
