SERVICE INFORMATION
GENERAL
For crankshaft and transmission repair, the crankcase must be separated Remove the following parts before separating the crankcaseCylinder head (section 6) Cylinder and piston (section 71 Clutch, oil pump and kick starter (section 8) Starter mOlOr (section 17) Alternator and gearshift linkage (section 9) Use soft jaws to prevent damage 10 the output gear case when placing the case in vise When replacing the following output gear components, new adjustment shim must be selected

Output gear bearing holder Replace the output drive and driven gear as set When using the lock nut renchuse deflecting beam type torque wrench 20 inches longThe lock nut wrench increases the torque wrench's leverage, so the torque wrench reading will be less than the torque actually applied to he lock nut The specification given is the actual torque applied to the lock nutnot the reading on the torque wrench when used with the lock nut wrenchThe torque scale reading is given with he actual torque specifications
