CAUTION :
With the ignition switch OFFremove [he negative cable at the battery befure servicing the starter motor,
Remove the exhaust pipe (Page 15-4lDisconnect the starter cableRemove the starter motor mounting bolts and bracket and pu II the motor out of the engine case
BRACKET BRUSHES
BRUSH INSPECTION
Remove the starter motor case screws and rear cover_ Inspect the brushes and measure the brush length SERVICE LIMIT5.5 mm (0.22 in) Measure brush spring tension with spring caseSERVICE LIMIT: 400 (14.1 oz)
