Section 06 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Subsection 01 (CHARGING SYSTEM)
Cleaning
Clean the battery rack, cables and battery posts using solution of baking soda and waterRemove corrosion (if so) from battery cable terminals and battery posts using firm wire brushRinse with clear water and dry well
Inspection
Visually inspect battery casing for cracks or other damageIf casing is damaged, replace battery and thoroughly clean battery rack with water and baking sodaInspect battery posts condition, battery rack mounting, straps and strap attachment points
Storage
If the battery is in storage or used infrequently, disconnect the battery cables to eliminate drain from electrical equipment1Strap

For extended storage, remove the battery from vehicleClean battery terminals and cable connections using wire brushApply light coat of dielectric grease (PIN 293 550 004) on terminalsClean battery casing using so lutio of baking soda and waterRinse battery with clear water and dry well using clean clothRegularly charge battery as per ma nufacturer' recom mendationsFor other recommendations during sto rage, refer to battery manufacturer's instructions
