Section 04 ENGINE MANAGEMENT (V-810) Subsection 01 (OVERVIEW)

Cooling Fan The ECM controls the cooling fanWhenever coolant temperature reaches certain treshold, the ECM triggers the fan relay to start the fan When temperature cools down to certain tre shold, the ECM stops the fanBrake Monitoring The ECM monitors the brakes through the brake switch If parking brake is activated or the driver inadvertently keeps the brake depressed for more than 15 seconds (either when vehicle moves or not), the ECM sends out signal to the multi-function speedometerNOTE: PARK BRAKE will be displayed in the multifunction speedometerShutdown Mode When engine stop switch is turned OFF or ignition key is turned OFF position, speedometer will turn off within 15 secondsAll the electrical system is cut-offEngine not running: When engine stop sw itch if ON and ignition key is left in the ON position, the accessories are poweredAfter 15 minutes, the ECM shuts down all fu nctions except multi-function speedometerECM and mutlif unction speedometer will draw powerNOTE: If engine starting is desired at this point, it is required to turn ignition key OFF, wait until speedometer turns OFF thenturn key back ONTo prevent battery drain, always turn OFF either ignition key or engine stop switchDrowned Mode (Flooded Engine) If engine is fuel-flooded and does not start, this special mode can be activated to prevent fuel injection and ignition while crankingProceed as follows to activate itWith ignition key in ignition switch while engine is stopped, press and HOLD throttle lever at WOT positionPress the start buttonThe mode is now onReleasing throttle lever ill bring back the normal modeIf engine does not startit may be necessary to remove spark plugs and crank engine with rags over spark plug holesRefer to COMPONENT INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT subsection 1Cooling fan R2M ain R3A ccessories
