Section 05 DRIVE TRAIN Subsection 02 (REAR AXLE)
Slide out the chain tensioner no4 from the left side of the swing armDirt between the swing arm and the chain tensioner may cause resistance during removal procedureIf required, use soft hammer or use pry bar to open the swing arm split
CHAIN TENSIONER BEARINGS
Inspection
The rear axle should turn smoothly and quietly inside chain tensionerIf not, change the bearingsIf bearings no13 are seized on the axle, the axle must be replaced or its surface cleanedBearings must still have slide fit on the axle, otherwise it will result in faulty reassembly and failure may occurBearing mating surface on the axle must be in good condition
Inspection
Check seals no17 for wear and damages or if there is dirt or mud in bearings areaIf problems is detected, replace sealsInspect chain tensioner bearings no13Bearings must turn smoothly and freelyReplace if necessaryCheck chain tensioner for cracks or wear, replace if necessary
Removal
NOTE: Bearings and seals must be replaced if removedRemove wear sleeves no14Pry out chain tensioner seals no17Be careful not to damage chain tensioner boreUse punch and drive bearing out of opposite end of housing
