BATTERY TROUBLESHOOTING
DISCHARGED OR WEAK BATTERY1Battery posts andor cable terminal oxidized- Clean and coat with dielectric grease2Loose or bad connections- Check wiring and connector cleanliness, damaged or short circuit3Faulty battery (sulfated, doesn't keep full charge, damaged casing, loose rectifier)- Replace4Main system fuse burnt or faulty voltage regulatorrectifier- First check charging system generator coilIf it is in good condition replace fuse or rectifierRefer to CHARGING SYSTEM5Faulty charging system generator coil- Replace
BATTERY TESTING
There are types of battery tests: unloaded and loadedAn unloaded test is made on battery without discharging currentIt is the simplest and commonly usedHowever, be aware that the voltage test can be good while the battery has not enough power to start the engineA load test shows the battery condition with more accuracy
