Section 10 BRAKES Subsection 02 (HYDRAULIC BRAKES)
GENERAL
During assemblyinstallation, use torque values and service products as in the exploded viewsClean threads before applying threadlockerRefer to SELF-LOCKING FASTENERS and LOCTITE APPLICATION at the beginning of this manual for complete procedure
BRAKE FLUID
Recommended Fluid
Always use brake fluid meeting the specification DOT onlyCAUTION: Use only DOT brake fluid from sealed containerCAUTION: Never use other type of oil, do not mix different types of brake fluid
Hydraulic Brakes System
The brake system consists of two separate circuitsEach system has its own master cylinder and reservoirBoth front and rear brakes are disc type
Fluid Level
With vehicle on level surface, check brake fluid in reservoir for proper levelIt should be above MINmarkAdd fluid as requiredDo not overfillClean filler cap before removingNOTE: low level may indicate leaks or worn brake padsFront Brake Fluid Reservoir Turn steering in the straight-ahead position to ensure reservoir is levelCheck the brake fluid level, the reservoir is full when the fluid reaches the top of windowVisually inspect lever boot conditionCheck for cracks, tears, etcReplace if damaged
