Section 07 DRIVE TRAIN Subsection 03 (REAR AXLE)
Installation
Place new bearing in freezer for 10 minutes before installationPlace the housing in an ovenHeat it to 100C (212F) for half hour maximum to ease bearing installation
NOTE: The drive shaft prevents the gears from movingInstall the backlash measurement tool (PN 529 035 665) at the end of the pinion gear
WARNING
Remove all grease or oil on and in housing before heatInstall bearing in housingWhen housing is cold, apply synthetic grease on bearings then install circlip and new sealInstall the other parts in the reverse order of removal procedureNote that oil seals no19 must be installed with their metal shield facing differential
REAR DIFFERENTIAL
Removal
Remove the rear axle from swing armRemove the rear differential protector no1Unscrew all TORX screws no6 and no8 retaining axle housings no2 and no4 to differential
