Section 07 DRIVE TRAIN Subsection 03 (REAR AXLE)
Installation For installation, reverse the removal procedure paying attention to the following detailsApply grease (PN 293 550 019) on splinesTorque castellated nut no11 to 135-155 Nm (100114 lbfft)NOTE: Always install new cotter pin when the axle is reinstalled
REAR HUB
Removal
CAUTION: Replace bearings when rear hub is removedLift rear of the vehicle until rear shock absorbers are fully extendedInstall jack stands under frame to support vehicleRemove: rear wheel(s) caliper (RH side only) CAUTION: Don't let caliper hang by the hose and don't stretch or twist hose cotter pin no13 NOTE: Discard the cotter pinAt installation, use new cotter pin castellated nut no.11 flat washer no12Using the hub puller (PN 529 035 612), pull out hub (with brake disc on RH side)
REAR PROPELLER SHAFT
Removal
Remove swing arm with rear axle assemblyRefer to REAR SUSPENSIONRemove the propeller shaft bolt no14 and flat washerSeparate rear propeller shaft no16 from engine
Inspection
Check yoke U-joint no17 for wear, backlash or axial play, replace if necessaryInspect engine seal for damage or leakReplace if necessary
