LUBRICATION
SYMPTOM CONDITION TestInspection LOW OR NO OIL PRESSURENORMAL USE1Check oil level and look for leakage on crankcase andor defective gasketsaCrankcase is leaking due to damageRebuild engine with new crankcase and gasket partsUse Bombardier's recommended oil (refer to TECHNICAL DATA)bCrankcase is leaking due to loose screwsRetighten screws with recommended torquecSealing rings, O-rings andor gaskets are brittle andor hard or damagedReplace damaged parts2Check oil drain plug on engine bottomaPlug is loosed andor gasket ring is missingRetighten the plug andor place gasket ring3Check oil strainer cover on engine bottomaScrew(s) is(are) loose andor gasket is damaged, brittle or hardRetighten screws andor replace gasket4Check the leak indicator hole if oil leaks (on magneto cover)aOil leaking from leak indicator hole means damaged oil seal on water pump shaftReplace oil seal (refer to COOLING SYSTEM and MAGNETO COVER)5Check oil pressure switch functionaOil pressure switch damagedReplace oil pressure switchbCheck wiring harness or connectorsCheck and repair or change de defective part(s)6Check piston rings for heavy wear, breaking or incorrect installationaPiston rings worn out (blue colored engine exhaust emission)Replace piston rings (refer to CYLINDER AND HEAD)bPiston rings are broken (low compression)Replace piston rings (refer to CYLINDER AND HEAD)7Check valve stem seal for leakageaValve stem seal damaged andor sealing lip is hard andor brittleReplace all valve stem seals8Check oil orifice(s) on the oil pump suction sideaOil orifice(s) is(are) cloggedClean from contaminationReplace oil and oil filter if necessary (refer to MAINTENANCE or LUBRICATION)
