Section 03 ENGINE QUEST Subsection 09 (CRANKSHAFTBALANCER SHAFT)
If chain is excessively worn or damaged, replace it as set (camshaft timing gear and timing chain)
Removal
Remove: engine from vehicle (refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION) cylinder head cover chain tensioner magneto cover and rotor (refer to MAGNETO SYSTEM) output shaft (refer to GEARBOX)

Lock crankshaft with crankshaft locking bolt (PN 529 035 617)1
Installation
The installation is essentially the reverse of the removal procedure but, pay attention to the following detailsEnsure to perform proper valve timingLock crankshaft and camshaft at TDC (refer to CYLINDER AND HEAD)Install chain then, adjust chain tension (refer to CYLINDER AND HEAD)CAUTION: Improper valve timing will damage engine components
