NOTE: Make sure used piston is not wornSee PISTON MEASUREMENT aboveIf clearance exceeds specified tolerance, replace cylinderNOTE: Make sure the cylinder bore gauge indicator is set exactly at the same position as with the micrometer, otherwise the reading will be falsePiston Pin Using synthetic abrasive woven, clean piston pin from depositsInspect piston pin for scoring, cracking or other damagesMeasure piston pinSee the following illustration for the proper measurement positions

Replace connecting rod if diameter of connecting rod small end is out of specificationsRefer to CRANKSHAFT AND BALANCER SHAFT for removal procedure of connecting rod
Installation
For installation, reverse the removal procedurePay attention to the following detailsApply engine oil on the piston pinInsert piston pin into piston and connecting rodCAUTION: Take care that piston will be installed with the punched arrow on piston top to the exhaust side22.996 mm (.9053 in) 23.000 mm (.9055 in) 22.990 mm (.9051 in)
