Section 09 BRAKES Subsection 02 (HYDRAULIC BRAKES)
Disassembly
Remove brake pads, see the following sectionRemove: slide caliper support no31 pad spring no32Place rag over pistonPlace caliper body with piston down and apply small squirts of air pressure to the fluid inlet to remove piston
Install caliper in its original positionIf hose was disconnected, bleed the brakesCheck for leaks and make sure the brakes operate normally before driving
BRAKE PADS
Removal
Raise vehicle and support it securelyRemove wheelsLoosen pad pins no34WARNING
Do not use high pressure air or bring nozzle too close to inletRemove piston sealCAUTION: Be careful not to damage piston sliding surfaceClean piston grooves, caliper cylinder and piston with clean brake fluidClean slide pins with brake cleaner and rag
Inspection
If boots no33 are deteriorated or hard, replace with new onesCheck caliper cylinder for scratches, rust or other damagesIf so, replace caliperCheck piston for scratches, rust or other damagesIf so, replace piston
