Section 09 BRAKES Subsection 02 (HYDRAULIC BRAKES)
With Vacuum Pump Install the vacuum pump (PN 529 021 800) to bleed valveSee the manufacturer's operating instructionsPump vacuum pump and loosen bleed valveClose bleed valve and refill reservoir when the fluid level is lowNOTE: Check fluid level often to prevent air from being pumped into the systemRepeat the procedure until no more air bubbles appear in bleed hoseNOTE: For the front brake system, switch to LH and RH caliperTurn handlebar to full RH side when bleeding right caliper no12 and turn to the LH side for the left caliper no13This helps the bleeder to reach air into the caliperThe front and the rear brakes must be bled at the same timeClose bleed valve and operate brake lever no7 or brake pedal no10If it still feels spongy, bleed system againRepeat the procedures until air bubbles do not appear in tube and lever or pedal is stiffFill reservoirs to the upper level with DOT brake fluidInstall diaphragms and covers on reservoirsWithout Vacuum Pump If vacuum pump is not available, use the following procedureInstall tube to bleed valveOpen bleederFill reservoirs and pump brake lever or brake pedal until fluid freely flows out of the tubeClose bleed valvePump up system pressure with brake lever or brake pedal until lever or pedal resistance is feltSqueeze brake lever or depress brake pedal, open bleed valve and then close itNOTE: Do not release brake lever or brake pedal until bleed valve has been closedFor the front brake system, switch to LH and RH caliperTurn handlebar to full RH side when bleeding right caliper no12 and turn to the LH side for the left caliper no13This helps to reach air into the caliperThe front and the rear brakes must be bled at the same timeRelease brake lever or brake pedal slowlyRepeat the procedure until no more air bubbles appear in tube and lever or pedal is stiff09-02-6
