Section 05 ELECTRICAL Subsection 04 (STARTING SYSTEM)
Inspect connections and clean as necessarySolenoid condition can be checked with an ohmmeterInstall test probes on large connectors of solenoidMeasure resistance when current is applied to small connectors; if it is more than few ohms, replace solenoidIf solenoid test good, check the electric starterIf starter test good, the electronic module can be suspectedSee ELECTRONIC MODULE below
ELECTRIC STARTER REMOVAL
Turn OFF ignition switchDisconnect BLACK (-) cable from battery
WARNING
Always disconnect BLACK (-) cable first and reconnect lastRemove the RH side cover and the engine cover (refer to BODY)Disconnect RED (+) cable from starterClean starter areaRemove starter mount screwsPull starter out
