Section 05 ELECTRICAL Subsection 04 (STARTING SYSTEM)
STARTING SYSTEM TESTS GENERAL
First ensure the problem is not related to engine mechanical componentsIf not, test the starting systemCauses of problems are not necessarily related to starter but may be due to burnt fuse, faulty battery, start button, ignition switch, engine stop switch, starting solenoid, electrical cables, connections or the electronic moduleCheck these components before removing starterConsult the STARTING SYSTEM TROUBLESHOOTING table above for general view of possible problems
Using multimeter, measure the resistance between the following wiresPOSITION Switch to OFF Switch to RUN WIRE BLACK and BLACKWHITE RESISTANCE maxInfinite (0.L)

Replace multi-function switch if defectiveIf switch and wiring test is good, continue the next tests
Start Button
If engine does not turn when pressing the start button, test the switch as followsRemove the front facia and unplug the multi-function switch connectorUsing multimeter, measure the resistance between the following wiresPOSITION Switch released Switch depressed and held WIRE REDVIOLET and YELLOWRED RESISTANCE Infinite (0.L) 0.6 max
