Section 05 ELECTRICAL Subsection 04 (STARTING SYSTEM)
Inspect connections and clean as necessarySolenoid condition can be checked with an ohmmeterInstall test probes on large connectors of solenoidMeasure resistance when current is applied to small connectors; if it is more than few ohms, replace solenoidIf solenoid test good, check the electric starterIf starter test good, the electronic module can be suspectedSee ELECTRONIC MODULE below
INSTALLATION
Installation is essentially the reverse of removal procedureHowever, pay particular attention to the followingMake sure that starter and engine mating surfaces are free of debrisSerious trouble may arise if starter is not properly alignedTorque starter screws to 10 Nm (89 lbfin)Connect the RED (+) cable to the starter and torque nut to Nm (53 lbfin)Apply dielectric grease on terminal and nutFirst connect RED (+) cable to battery then connect the BLACK (-) cable
Electrical Cables or Connections
Check all connections, cables and wiresTighten any loose cablesReplace any chafe wirescablesIf wiring and connectors are good, check the electric starterSee below
