Position the dial bore gauge 47 mm (1.85 in) above cylinder base, measuring perpendicularly (90) to piston pin axisRead the measurement on the cylinder bore gaugeThe result is the exact pistoncylinder wall clearancePISTONCYLINDER CLEARANCE NEW NOMINAL SERVICE LIMIT 0.042 to 0.072 mm (.0017 to .0028 in) 0.090 mm (.004 in)

1Micrometer set to the piston dimension
With the micrometer set to the dimension, adjust cylinder bore gauge to the micrometer dimension and set the indicator to (zero)
NOTE: Make sure used piston is not wornSee Piston Measurement aboveIf clearance exceeds specified tolerance, replace cylinderNOTE: Make sure the cylinder bore gauge indicator is set exactly at the same position as with the micrometer, otherwise the reading will be falsePiston Pin Using synthetic abrasive woven, clean piston pin from depositsInspect piston pin for scoring, cracking or other damagesMeasure piston pinSee the following illustration for the proper measurement positions
