Section 03 ENGINE (LUBRICATION SYSTEM)
OUTER AND INNER ROTORS CLEARANCE mm (in) SERVICE LIMIT 0.25 mm (.009 in)
If clearance between inner and outer rotors exceeds the tolerance, replace oil pump assemblyEnsure to also check oil pump housingIf damaged, replace the complete oil pump assemblyIf clearance between outer rotor and its bore in oil pump exceeds the tolerance, replace the complete oil pump assemblyUsing dial indicator, measure side wear as shown1 2
If difference exceeds service limit, replace the complete oil pump assemblyNOTE: When the axial clearance of the oil pump shaft assembly increases, the oil pressure decreases (less discharge)Check the inside of oil pump housing and crankcase area for scoring or other damagesIf so, change the complete oil pump assemblyNOTE: If the surface only shows small groove, use grindstone to burnish burrsWhen the oil pump is seized, replace crankcase assembly and complete oil pumpR175motr144A
